While an ongoing controversy over banning a National News Channel (NDTV India) for a day is not yet been over, another diktat is been imposed by the Government for the two more Assam based News Channel to go off air on November 9.

The Center has forced a one-day pass out punishment on the News Channel based out of Assam for supposedly violating programming guidelines rules more than once.

An I&B Ministry has ordered to News Time Assam and Care World TV to go off air dated on 9th November. Reports said that the Government has enforced the other two News channel to take off air for violation content.

What is the Issue ?

The charges against News Time Assam is that the channel broadcasted a program which uncovered the personality of a minor by revealing his face without even blurring or morphing who had been severely tormented while working as a domestic worker. The Government directed the punishment as it may also traumatize the minor or harm the dignity of the child.

Looking closely into the matter and observing the visuals of the minor, the Inter-Ministerial Committee (IMC) which investigated the matter felt that the channel might be taken off air for a day.

Another reason to take off air is the channel telecast the offensive visuals of dead bodies which also appeared as a defamatory towards the women. The IMC also recommend to run the apology scroll whole day, but the channel didn’t abide by the recommendations. Hence, taking off air was the only choice left for the Government.

While  NDTV India is also been banned for one day by the I&B Ministry over the coverage of Pathankot attack which is turning political controversy.
