The Punjab government is all set to introduce the digital way to mark the teacher’s presence and absence in the government schools from April 2018.
The bio-metric machine would be installed in 900 schools in the first phase then gradually it will be installed to the other government schools as well.
The government teachers seem unimpressed with the government decision of installing bio-metric for their attendance.
According to the sources, a meeting would be held soon with the school top authorities after which the bio-metric devices would be handed over to them to install it for the e attendance further.
The bio-metric attendance of the teachers will be linked to an android application named ePunjab attendance.
The schools had already issued a letter to the school staff member to verify their all relevant details including aadhar card number so that the details can be linked directly to the epunjab portal.
The government is planning to install the bio-metric devices nearly around 20,000 government schools but initially, in the first phase, the devices would be installed in 900 schools first.
The government is expecting a positive tech. move towards the education system also; it will eliminate the bogus attendance.
However, on the other hand, government teachers want these machines to be installed in the headquarters of the education department first and later to the schools.
According to the Director-General of School Education (DGSE), the bio-metric attendance will be operational by April as the new session will begin.
