Arunachal Pradesh: Indian Air Force chopper crashes, 5 killed

As per the recent reports, an Indian Air Force MI-17 helicopter reportedly crashed near Tawang in Arunachal Pradesh in the wee hours of Friday morning.

In the incident, five Indian air force personnel were killed and other was severely injured in the mishap.

An IAF official said in a statement, “Today morning at around 06:00 hours a Mi-17 V5 helicopter while on an air maintenance mission crashed in Arunachal Pradesh resulting in fatal injuries to five personnel and the critical injury of one personnel”.

The incident took place around 6 am on Friday morning.

According to reports, the chopper was on Air Maintenance mission.

Following the incident, rescue teams were rushed to the spot in Tawang near the Indo-China border and transferred the injured personnel to the nearby local hospital.

The official said, “A Court of Inquiry has been ordered to ascertain the cause of the accident”.

It was discovered that the Mi 17 V5 is a Russian-made military helicopter which is usually used in disaster relief operations especially floods.
