Beloved Amma’s last rites

On Monday, Tamil Nadu’s Chief Minister Jayalalithaa passed away at 11.30 pm at Apollo Hospital in Chennai, following cardiac arrest on December 4.

Past midnight, after the announcement of her death from the hospital, Jayalalithaa’s body had been taken to her Poes Garden’s residence and later had been kept at Rajaji hall for the people to pay last respect to everyone’s beloved Amma.

Jayalalithaa is not cremated as Hindu Brahmin mythology. Her burial ceremony took place at around 4:30pm at Dr MGR Memorial Site on Kamarajar Salai, Chennai.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also paid floral tribute to Jayalalithaa. Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi, Ghulam Nabi Azad, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and other prominent leaders also gave tribute to Amma in Chennai.

Huge police force and securities has been implemented across the capital city to prevent any problematic incident. Number of people has gathered at Chennai’s Rajaji hall to pay their last respect to dearest Amma.
