In less than a week’s time, another journalist was shot dead by two assailants in Bihar’s Arwal district on Thursday evening.
Sources said in a statement that the journalist was associated with the Rashtriya Sahara.
Dilip Kumar, SP Arwal said in a statement, “Pankaj Mishra shot by 2 people from his village. Mishra was leaving the bank with 1 lakh cash which was robbed by them”.
It was reported that the incident took place when the journalist was leaving to her home after visiting bank after withdrawing rupees one lakh.
Dilip Kumar, Arwal’s SP said in a statement,” Mishra was shot dead by two people from his village while he was leaving the bank with Rs. 1 lakh cash which was robbed by them. One accused has been arrested. It is a case of personal enmity,”
The condition of the journalist was reported critical, Police said.
Although, one of the assailants was reportedly arrested by the Bihar Police.
It was further added, “One accused who shot journalist Pankaj Mishra has been arrested. It is a case of personal enmity”.
The incident in less than a week time when the Bengaluru noted journalist Gauri Lankesh was allegedly shot dead inside her Bengaluru resident after returning from her office.
Reports say that the this is not the first instance where a journalist was killed. Last year a journalist Rajdeo Ranjan was allegedly shot dead in Siwan. The journalist was known to write against RJD worker Mohammad Shahabuddin.
