In a shocking incident, a 29-year-old engineer from Bihar was reportedly kidnapped and forced to marry a woman at gunpoint in Patna, Bihar. The video clip of the wedding went viral on social media platforms. Video clips from the wedding show Vinod Kumar, the forced groom, being thrashed and compelled to perform wedding rituals in Patna’s Pandarak area.
The man has been identified as Vinod Kumar, who works as an executive engineer at Bokaro steel plant.
According to the family, Kumar was on his way to attend a friend’s marriage in Islampur, when he got a call from one Surinder Yadav, whom he had met earlier during his father’s treatment, who asked him to come to Mokama.
But, when Kumar reached Mokama, Surinder held him hostage and forced to marry the woman. In the video, Vinod Kumar can be seen trying to resist and even crying as some women perform the wedding rituals.
According to victim’s brother, his friend Guddu was also held hostage and was kept in a separate room. He further said he tried to contact his brother that day but couldn’t speak to him. Next day, he got a call from Madan Yadav who informed him that his brother has been married.
The girl’s family, however, had another story to say. According to the bride’s brother, the complainant knew the girl for long and he had agreed to marry her. He also alleged that Kumar is now opposed to the wedding at the behest of his brother.
