Sighting the height of corruption, a wall of a Rs 389-crore dam reportedly collapsed during a run trial in Bhagalpur on Tuesday.

It was reported that the government spent around Rs. 389.31 crores for setting up the Bateshwarasthan Ganga Pump Canal Project under the irrigation scheme of Kahalgaon in Bhagalpur.

An official statement of Bihar government said, “The proposed programme of the Chief Minister at Bhagalpur tomorrow has been canceled due to technical reasons”.

While defending the administration, Lallan Singh, Minister of Water Resources said in a statement, “The dam broke due to the release of water in full capacity. The incident has not caused any damage to the newly constructed part of the project”.

The project was made in May-June this year but the inauguration event got canceled due to technical difficulties.

Deputy CM Tejashwi Yadav moved to the social media platform Twitter and claimed corruption as the cause of the mishap and wrote, “Rs 389.31 crore dam collapses ahead of the inauguration. The CM was to inaugurate the dam with much fanfare. Yet another dam collapses due of corruption”.

However, the dam was to be inauguration by the Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.
