In a major relief to the farmers, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis government on Saturday declared a Rs 34,000 crore loan waiver for farmers in the state, saying all individual loans by farmers below Rs 1.5 lakhs will be waived completely.
Devendra Fadnavis said this is the biggest loan waiver scheme in the nation. He also added the loan relief will benefit around 89 lakh farmers in the state and making 40 lakh farmers debt-free.”
Maharashtra CM also informed that all state BJP ministers and MLAs would contribute one month salary towards the farmers loan waiver.
BJP led Maharashtra government has also announced a special scheme package for regular loan payers farmers by giving them a bonus of Rs 25,000 or 25% of the loan paid – whichever is higher.
“The package was approved by chief minister Devendra Fadnavis during our meeting on Saturday morning. We have informed Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray and key opposition leaders about it. An official conclusion will be taken in the state bureau on Tuesday,” Patil said after meeting Thackeray at his home on Saturday.
