Chennai: IPS officer caught cheating In UPSC Exam

A 29-year-old IPS officer Safeer Karim was caught cheating in the Union Public Service Commission Examination in Egmore, Chennai.

Officials said he allegedly took help of his wife during the examination.

It was reported that the officer was found using Bluetooth device to communicate with his wife during the examination which took place on Monday.

The exam held at the Presidency Girls Higher Secondary School in Egmore, Chennai.

Police identified the accused as Safeer Karim, an assistant superintendent of police in Nanguneri, Tirunelveli, who was writing his second round of the examination where he was allegedly caught cheating during the exam.

The UPSE exam is currently being held in 24 cities across the country.

An official told the media, “Karim’s wife, Joicy Joy, dictated the answers to him from Hyderabad”.

Safeer Karim was currently posted as ASP at Nanguneri.

Karim has also started his coaching institute and also organized orientation programmes for IAS aspirants.

The institute has branches in Hyderabad, Kochi, Calicut, Bhopal, Thiruvananthapuram.

Following the incident, the officer was detained from the examination hall is being questioned by the officials.

The official said the accused would be booked under IPC Section 420.

It was learned that a team of officers will soon arrest his wife from Hyderabad.
