As per the recent reports, at least four people were reportedly killed after a bus stand collapsed in Somanur district of Coimbatore on Thursday.
It was reported that more than a dozen people were believed to be trapped under the debris.
Reports suggest that five people were killed including a woman after a bus stand roof reportedly collapsed on Thursday afternoon.
In the further development, it was discovered that driver of the bus was among in the death toll.
However, the rescue operation is underway.
The incident took place around 2 pm on Thursday afternoon.
Several fire tenders and rescue personnel were rushed to the spot to rescue the people who were trapped inside the debris.
A police official told the reporters that TNSTC driver who was identified as Shanmugham (45) was admitted to the local hospital in the area.
More than 10 ambulances were deployed to transfer the injured to the local hospital in the area.
While interacting with the media, police officials said more could be more casualties as many people are trapped in the debris.
The police told the media that roof of the shed reportedly collapsed on the commuters.
