Congress says, Sonia has retired as party chief not from politics

While clearing the buzz, Congress spokesperson Randeep Surjewala said that Sonia Gandhi has retired as Congress president, not from politics.

He said Sonia Gandhi has handed over the baton to his son Rahul Gandhi, but she will still remain as the guiding light for the party.

Congress spokesperson Randeep S Surjewala‏ moved to Twitter and posted, “Smt. Sonia Gandhi has retired as President of Indian National Congress and not from politics. Her blessings, wisdom and innate commitment to Congress ideology shall always be our guiding light”.

When reporters asked Sonia Gandhi what post she will hold in the party, she said: “My role is to retire”.

In his another tweet, he wrote: “Would sincerely request friends in the media to not rely upon innuendos”.

Earlier, in this week Rahul Gandhi was appointed as the Party chief by the members of the party.

Reports said Sonia Gandhi entered into the politics in the year 1994.

It was believed that the Sonia Gandhi became the Congress president in the year 1998.
