RJD Supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav who is undergoing treatment in AIIMS, Delhi has refused to go back to Ranchi hospital in Jharkhand.

In a letter, he wrote: “I don’t want to be shifted back to Ranchi hospital as the hospital is not properly equipped to treat my ailments.”

The former Chief Minister of Bihar, Lalu Yadav is lodged in Ranchi’s Birsa Munda Central Jail since December 23 for 14 years after he had been convicted in multiple fodder scam cases since 2013.

He was admitted to Delhi’s All India Institute of Medical Sciences on March 29 after a special CBI court allowed him to seek treatment.

On March 17 he had complained of uneasiness at Birsa Munda Jail and was taken to RIIMS, Ranchi.

“Lalu Prasad was referred to AIIMS for management of his acute medical condition. He has improved significantly and is being referred back to Ranchi Medical College for management of his chronic issues,” read the letter from AIIMS.

Lalu’s counsel says he suffers from multiple ailments like diabetics, high creatinine levels, and blood pressure.

The Jharkhand high court, which is hearing Lalu’s bail pleas, too has sought a report on his medical condition from AIIMS-Delhi.

Lalu’s wife and former Bihar CM Rabri Devi had alleged that the government was plotting to kill her husband. “My husband’s condition is deteriorating and I don’t know if it is due to illness or medicines are being administered to kill him as his sugar level is rising. How can I trust the government?” she had said.

Earlier today Congress president Rahul Gandhi met Lalu. The meeting between the two leaders lasted for around 30 minutes. Rahul Gandhi is said to have enquired about the Bihar leader’s health. The meeting comes just a day after Congress’s Jan Aakrosh rally in Delhi.
