Delhi: Landfill collapsed in Ghazipur

As per the recent reports, a Garbage dump cave in Delhi’s Ghazipur reportedly collapsed, injuring over a dozen people on Friday.

The incident took place around 2:20 pm, an official said.

It was reported that after a Garbage dump collapsed and fell on the moving vehicle, at least 5- 6 vehicles were allegedly pushed into the adjacent Kondli canal.

While interacting with the media locals said that MCD should take the responsibility for the incident.

An official said in a statement,“We have taken out five people from the canal and rushed them to Lal Bahadur Shastri Hospital”.

It was reported that at least two people were killed and few others were trapped in the east Delhi’s Ghazipur area on Friday afternoon.

Ranbir Singh, EDMC Commissioner said in a statement,“Rescue operation is underway. The reason of the incident can be ascertained only after investigation”.

East Delhi MCD mayor Neema Bhagat has confirmed the incident and said at least three people have been killed in the incident.

Police official said in a statement, one body has been discovered from Kondli canal.

Although, the traffic has been closed on the route

However,  A team of the National Disaster Response Force or NDRF and the rescue operations are currently underway.
