In a shocking incident, a 40-year-old labourer was allegedly arrested by the Delhi police in connection with sexually assaulting and killing a six-year-old boy in northeast Delhi’s Harsh Vihar.
The accused has been identified as Ram Niwas, who works as a labourer.
The incident took place on August 12, when the boy went missing and his parents moved to the police station to report a complaint.
Following this, the body of the boy was recovered from a nursery which was near his parent’s tea shop in northeast Delhi.
In a statement, A.K. Singhla, the DCP for north-east said, “During the interrogation, the accused told the police that he has sexually abused and killed eight minor boys since 2007. The Delhi Police are yet to verify his claims”.
It was reported that he was also involved in similar cases in the past as well.
Police arrested the accused from Mandoli.
It was further added, “The police took the help of a dog squad, reached to an under-construction house nearby a tea shop run by deceased boy’s father. When on suspicion of Ram Niwas, using technical surveillance the police traced him to near Shahdara railway station. But soon after, he switched off both his cell phones”.
Police checked Ram Niwas past criminal records in which it was discovered that he was also arrested in the year 2009, but was free after serving a three-year imprisonment.
