Diwali: Supreme Court ban on sale of firecrackers in Delhi-NCR

In a recent development, Supreme Court has said in its verdict that there will be no sale of Firecrackers in Delhi and NCR till November 1.

It was reported that Justice A K Sikri has announced its verdict on a petition seeking restoration of the restoration apex court’s order banning the sale of firecrackers in Delhi-NCR.

A bench which was headed by Justice A.K. Sikri said in its statement, “We should see at least in one Diwali the impact of a cracker-free festivity”.

It was reported that the sale of firecrackers has been suspended from Delhi and nearby areas amid air pollution.

The apex court said in its September 12, 2017, order that the ban on sale and stocking of firecrackers in Delhi NCR will be suspended until November 1.

Following this, each year it is reported that the festival of lights leaves the capital with smoke and pollution.
