Ex home secretary Anil Baijal is appointed as new Lieutenant Governor of Delhi

Former Home Secretary, Anil Baijal has been appointed as new Lieutenant Governor of Delhi, following sudden resignation of Najeeb Jung.

On Wednesday, Anil Baijal’s appointment papers have been sent to the President of India, Pranab Mukherjee for his acceptance. In the evening he accepted his appointment.

Anil Baijal is a 1969 batch IAS officer and served as Union Home Secretary under the Atal Bihari Vajpayee government.

When UPA government came into power in 2004, he has been transferred to the Urban Development Ministry. In October 2006, Mr baijal retired from the post of secretary of Urban Development Ministry.
