As per the recent reports, a Delhi Court has awarded life imprisonment to former television serial producer Suhaib Ilyasi, for allegedly killing his wife 17 years ago.
The court heard the case and ruled out that the case doesn’t fall in the rarest of the rare category.
It was reported that it was demanded the death sentence, but the court pronounced its verdict and said it did not fall under the rarest of the rare category.
Following this, Additional Sessions Judge S K Malhotra has also imposed a fine of Rs 2 lakh on Ilyasi.
Former TV producer Suhaib Ilyasi was convicted on December 16 for stabbing to death his wife.
The court also said in its judgment that Rs 10 lakh would be paid as a compensation to parents of Anju.
While he was brought from Tihar jail, Ilyasi shouted he was innocent and the life sentence given to him is an injustice against him.
Rukma Singh, Justice Indermeet Kaur said in a statement, “The prima facie material collected by the prosecution justifies the framing of additional charge under Section 302 (murder) of IPC. The revision petition is disposed of with a direction to the trial court to frame an additional charge under Section 302 of IPC”.
