Gujarat: One person killed in police firing in Dahod

As per the recent reports, a person was allegedly killed in a police firing after a clash took place in Gadbada Tehsil area of Dahod district in Gujarat.

The incident took place on Thursday after violence broke out between the locals and police over a death of police officers during an interrogation.

It was reported that the firing took place at Jesawada town in Gujarat’s Dahod district on Thursday.

Locals attacked policemen and set their vehicles on fire in the wake of the death of a local resident.

A national daily reported, “We had taken Gamara in for questioning about his brother who is underground in a dacoity case and released him the same day. This morning, Gamara’s relatives approached the police to lodge a complaint and when police were in the process of registering the complaint, around 500 people gathered at the police station and started pelting stones. The crowd also burnt and damaged police vehicles”.

What happened?

The reason behind the violence was the death of a local resident who was alleged in a robbery case. The villagers claimed that the man died in an assault during police interrogation.

The deceased was identified as Ramsu Mohaniya, who hails from Usarva village in Dahod.

Police official said in a statement, “The situation is under control now”.
