At least seven people were reportedly killed after two cabins of the Gulmarg cable car crashed as its cable broke suddenly and fall 100 of metres down the ground in Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday.
A couple and two children were among the dead”, a Police official said.
Adding further to this he said, “Rescue efforts are on to save people trapped in other cars of the gondola cable car project.”
The deceased were identified as Jayant Anderaskar, Manisha (wife) and his daughters Anagha and Jhanvi.
It was reported that the family hails from Shalimar Bagh in Delhi.
The other person who was reported dead was identified as Mukhtar Ahmed Ganie, Javed Ahmed Khandey and Farooq Ahmed who were tourist guides.
As per the reports, this was the first incident which occurred since the cable-car service began its service in the year 1998.
