In a shocking incident, a 23-year old woman was brutally gang raped and murdered in the Haryana’s Sonipat district where a woman suffered multiple head injuries with a blunt weapon.

The incident reminds the Nirbhaya case, where the girl was brutally gang-raped in a moving bus, which took place in the heart of the capital in the year 2012.

It was reported that the woman was kidnapped by a close friend and his associates where they gang-raped the victim and mutilated her private parts which is the main cause of the death.

The body of the deceased was found near Industrial Model Township in Urban Estate, Rohtak, on May 11.

The post-mortem reports suggested that the skull of the woman was destroyed into pieces and even sharp-edged objects were inserted into her private parts. The victim’s ear, tongue, eyes, face was disfigured which made the face unidentifiable.

In a statement, Haryana Inspector general of police said, “We cannot tell the investigation details. Two accused has been arrested till now. The investigation is underway”.

Meanwhile, Former Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda expressing his deep concern about the incident said, “The case is similar to the one which took place in Delhi a few years back. In the ‘Nirbhaya’ case, the Supreme Court has upheld death sentence to the four convicts. In this case, too, the culprits should be awarded the same punishment”.

On the other hand, Sonia Gandhi said, “This savage and bone-chilling incident has shocked the conscience of the nation, reminding each one of us about the crying need of revisiting the important issue of women’s safety and security”.
