Hyderabad: Kashmiri students arrested for disrespecting national anthem

The Hyderabad Police has allegedly arrested three Kashmiri students for by showing disrespect to the national anthem by not standing in a cinema hall on Sunday.

It was reported that all the three students are pursuing engineering from Al-Habeeb College of Engineering in Hyderabad, where they went to watch the movie “Bareilly Ki Barfi” at Mantra Mall.

PV Padmaja, Deputy Commissioner of Police said in a statement, “The management of the theatre lodged a complaint with police, stating that the three persons did not stand up when the National Anthem was played when all others in the cinema hall were standing”.

The student who hails from J&K was booked under the section of Section 2 of the Prevention of Insults to National Honour Act. The case was registered at Rajendra Nagar police station.
