In yet another incident of crime against women, a 22-year-old woman was reportedly set on fire in the Hyderabad city in front of the full public view.
The incident was reported from Shanti Nagar in Lallaguda on Thursday evening.
It was reported that the incident took place at the time when a 22-year-old woman, who was identified as Sandhya Rani, was returning home from work.
A police officer said in a statement, “Karthik had no job for the past year and had been drinking a lot. He had been harassing her, pressing her to marry him and quit her job”.
The woman was rushed to the government-run Gandhi Hospital.
Hospital authorities told the media that the woman sustained 80% burn, where her condition is reported to be critical.
Sources said the woman was working in a commercial establishment for about a year.
DCP Sumathi said in a statement, “The couple had an argument on the phone recently when Karthik asked her to quit the job. However, Sandhya insisted on continuing with the job and ended their relationship”.
Although, the case has been registered under the section of 307 of IPC & ST/SC Atrocity Act.
However, the investigating is underway.
