Two militants were reportedly killed in gun fight between security forces near Sopore town of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Monday morning.
It was reported that at least two militants have been killed in an ongoing operation near Sopore Township in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
The gun fight between the security forces and militants started during the cordon and search operation in early Monday morning.
An official told the reporters, “The militant started an open fire on the soldiers during a search operation in Shanker Gund Brath area of Sopore”.
It was further added, “More terrorists have been trapped in the area. The operation is still on”.
A Police officer said in a statement, “As the cordon was tightened, the militants started firing triggering the encounter”.
It was believed that the both of the terrorists belong to Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT).
Following this, two AK-47 rifles and one Insas rifle along with one pistol was recovered from the area.
The terrorist was later identified as Naeem and Aashiq by the police.
Although, this is not the first incident where an opened fire took place in the area. Earlier also Pakistan has violated ceasefire in the Krishna Ghati sector of Jammu and Kashmir.
