As per the recent reports, a “kissing competition” was allegedly organized in a local fair in Jharkhand’s Pakur district on December 9.

It was reported that the alleged competition was organised by the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) in the state for “conspiring to malign the tribal culture and custom”.

While interacting with the media, Jharkhand BJP vice president, Hemlal Murmu said the event was organized on the direction of the church and Christian missionaries.

Jharkhand BJP vice president, Hemlal Murmu said in a statement, “We appeal to the state Assembly Speaker to suspend Simon Marandi from membership of the Assembly. The Santhal tribes do not touch each other’s hands while extending their greetings. In Santhal, tribals greet by saying ‘Dobo Johar’ in which the people place their closed fist on their forehead as part of greetings”.

It was believed that three tribal couples were also awarded after the competition.

The event was attended by the hundreds of people.

Murmu also said that the event came as an insult to the women and also demanded two MLAs must apologize to the village.

While reacting to the event, BJP has demanded Marandi’s removal from the party.
