J&K: 2 soldiers injured in Pakistan firing

At least two Indian soldiers were reportedly injured in Pakistan firing along the line of control in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday morning.

It was reported that troops opened fire along the LoC in Bhimber Gali area of Balakote sector, in which two jawans were injured.

An Intelligence official said in a statement, “Around 0300 hours (3 am) havildar Saigan Rai and rifleman Vijay Rai of ‘C’ company sustained multiple splinter injuries at the Balakote forward post after a mortar shell fired by Pak army exploded near the post”.

The exchange of fire between the two sides lasted for around 30 minutes.

Adding further to this, he said, “No fatal or serious casualties on the Indian side. Pak casualties being ascertained”.

The Defence Ministry source said Pakistan army has reportedly started the unprovoked firing at the Indian positions in Bhimber Ghali area.

Sources told the media, “Two of our soldiers were injured in the Pakistani firing which started at 3 a.m.”. “The Indian posts retaliated effectively and strongly. The injured were shifted to a hospital”.
