Justice Dipak Misra sworn-in as 45th Chief Justice of India

Justice Dipak Misra takes oath as the 45th Chief Justice of India in the Darbar Hall of Rashtrapati Bhawan on Monday morning.

It was observed that the Justice Dipak Misra was administered by the President Ram Nath Kovind while taking the oath in the Rashtrapati Bhawan.

In the oath taking ceremony Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Vice President Venkaiah Naidu and President Ram Nath Kovind was present in the Darbar Hall of Rashtrapati Bhawan.

The 64-year-old Justice Dipak Misra has assumed the office after the retirement of Justice J.S. Khehar on Sunday.

Justice Misra was nominated by the Chief Justice of India Jagdish Singh Khehar last month for the post of 45th Chief Justice of India.

It was learned that the Chief Justice of India Dipak Misra has practiced as the Civil, Constitutional, Criminal, Revenue, Service and Sales Tax in the Orissa High Court.

On May 24, 2010, Justice Dipak Misra became the Chief Justice of the Delhi High Court and in the year 2011, he was appointed as a Judge to the Supreme Court.

The 45th Chief Justice of India will hold the office he next 13 months, until 2 October 2018.
