Kashmir: Shutdown against braid chopping in Kulgam

As per the recent reports, a protest broke out in the South Kashmir’s Kulgam district against the increasing braid-chopping incidents in the area.

On Tuesday, it was observed that public transport; markets were reportedly closed in Kulgam town in protest of braid chopping incidents which is been in the district from past 15 days.

Following this, it was reported that many youths moved to streets where they were demanding the culprits to be punished immediately.

A report suggests that five braid chopping incidents were reported from the district from past few days.

While talking to the media, one of the protestors said, “We nabbed two of them but the third one managed to flee. He alerted the army personnel at Devsar camp who arrived in the village. They fired some shots in the air and whisked away two of the culprits”.

Business and other activities have been severely affected in Kashmir valley from past one week.

Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti has instructed the police officials to deploy a special team to nab the accused who is behind the mysterious hair chopping incidents in Kulgam and other parts of the state.

It was reported that similar incidents have also been observed in Jammu province.

On Monday, Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti asked DGP J&K Police Dr. SP Vaid to investigate into the matter.
