Kejriwal advisor VK Jain resigns

Advisor of the Delhi Chief Minister VK Jain, a witness in chief secretary assault case stepped down from his post. He sent his resignation letter to the CMO and its copy to the lieutenant governor.

He quoted family commitments and other personal causes are the reasons for stepping down.

The resignation has come days after the cops questioned him regarding the Ashu Prakash assault case that took place in late night hours at the CM residence.

In one of his statements, Jain said that he saw Prakash spectacles fell off.

Jain witnessed the assault on Delhi Chief Secretary Anshu Prakash on February 19. It was during a meeting at the CM’s residence.

He stopped coming to the CMO and was on a weeklong leave after the assault took place.

In one his statements, Jain said he was in the washroom at the time the incident took place but later changed his statements.

He said, “When I came back, I saw two AAP MLAs Amanatullah Khan and Prakash Jarwal, who were sitting, were ‘physically assaulting’ Delhi Chief Secretary Anshu Prakash and asking why are you not working…They were pushing him, physically touching him and were threatening him after pressing his chin. Following this incident, his spectacles fell.”

The prosecutor made its clarification. It was recorded before a magistrate under Section 164 and the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPc).

The 60-year-old is a retired IAS officer. He was appointed as advisor-cum-consultant to Kejriwal in September 2017. He earlier worked as the CEO of Delhi Urban Shelter Improvement Board.
