At least one person was reportedly killed after a fifty-year-old building collapsed in Kolkata’s Burrabazar area on Tuesday.
According to the sources, at least three people were critically injured in the mishap.
Following this, the injured person was reportedly rushed to the local hospital for the further treatment in the area.
The Police told the media that local administration has reached the spot and has begun the rescue work in the area.
The injured people were rushed to Calcutta Medical College.
It was reported that the Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) workers have reached the spot for the rescue and relief work.
There are reports quoting more people are believed to be trapped inside the debris.
The rescue work is in the process and the person residing in the building was safely removed.
“All the eight inmates of the building have been safely evacuated”, a police officer said in a statement.
The recent incident has come after the five-storey building collapsed in Mumbai’s Bhindi Bazar and has killed 34 people in the incident.
Prior to this, on July 25, at least two persons were reportedly killed after a century-old building portion collapsed in the central Kolkata’s Bowbazaar area.
However, the reason of the mishap is yet to be disclosed.
