Malayalam writer detained for allegedly insulting the National Anthem

Malayalam writer and theater artist Kamal C Chavara was detained by police for allegedly showing disrespect against national anthem in Kerala on Sunday.

According to the reports, BJP’s youth wing filed a complaint against Kamal C Chavara , following his facebook post which allegedly insulted the national anthem.

The post was considered to be from one of the excerpts from his book “Smasanangulude Nottupusthaka”.

Writer has been detained under the charge of 124 A (sedition). This incident came into light, just after few days when twelve people were arrested by police for not standing up while National anthem was being played in the International Film Festival in Kerala.

Last month , Apex court have also ordered cinema halls to play the national anthem before the screening of a film across the country and people should stand up to show respect for national anthem.
