Maneka Gandhi urges Sushma Swaraj, concerned over child abuse

Union Cabinet Minister for Women & Child Development Maneka Gandhi writes to Sushma Swaraj Minister of External Affairs requesting the amendment in Visa to restrict the entry of foreigners in India who holds a criminal record of child abuse.

While interacting with Media Gandhi said, “Many foreigners who visit India have cases against them for child abuse. It is unfortunate that we allow people to enter the country without any check on their criminal background”.

While Minister for Women & Child Development Maneka Gandhi tweeted, “Have requested Sushma Swarajji to revise visa format so foreign nationals with a criminal record of child abuse don’t enter India”.

According to Minister for Women & Child Development, “at present, foreign nationals do not have to declare their record of criminal prosecution for visas to travel to India”.
