A senior Doctor Deepak Amarapurkar from Bombay Hospital, who went missing on Tuesday after heavy rain hit the city, has been found dead near the seashore at Worli, Mumbai.
The body of the noted doctor was discovered near seashore at Worli, Mumbai on Thursday morning.
The 58-year-old Doctor Deepak Amarapurkar was returning from Bombay Hospital when his car got stuck in the traffic.
Pallavi Godbole, Doctor’s niece told the media, “He asked the driver to take the car home and decided to walk since he thought it will take less time. Our house is 10 minutes away from where he was”.
It was reported that he fell into an open manhole on the flooded road which is a few minutes away from his home.
Dr. Gautam Bhansali, a close friend of Amarapurkar said in a statement, “After I learned about it, I started calling police officers as well as Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) officials. A police officer reverted saying they have learned from witnesses that Dr. Amarapurkar fell into an open manhole on a flooded road”.
However, Mumbai has received the highest rainfall since 2005 on Tuesday.
