The banking operations have been called off after a United Forum of Banking Unions (UFBU) has gone nationwide bank strike today, against the government’s move to privatize public sector banks.
Approximately ten lakh employees have gone on a strike today.
State Bank of India has said in a statement, “All India State Bank Officers’ Federation and All India State Bank of India Staff Federation, being part of UFBU (United Forum of Bank Unions), will also participate in the strike. It is likely that our Bank would also be impacted by the said strike”.
It was reported that around 21 public sectors bank’s functions would be disrupted including the State Bank of India and IDBI.
The protest would be held at Jantar Mantar, New Delhi.
The Private sector banks which include ICICI, HDFC, Axis and Kotak Mahindra are expected to function as normal.
