NDTV founder Prannoy Roy’s residence raided by CBI

CBI recovers Rs 2.15 crore

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) carried out a search operation at the residence of New Delhi Television (NDTV) founder Prannoy Roy, in the wee hours of Monday morning.

It was reported that CBI conducted searches at the premises of Prannoy Roy and his wife Radhika Roy in New Delhi, Dehradun, and Mussoorie for causing a loss to a private bank.

A case has also been registered against the Prannoy Roy and his wife and RRPR Holdings Pvt Limited, for causing a loss of Rs 48 crore to ICICI Bank.

The statement issued by NDTV stated, “This morning, the CBI stepped up the concerted harassment of NDTV and its promoters based on the same old endless false accusations.

NDTV and its promoters will fight tirelessly against this witch-hunt by multiple agencies. We will not succumb to these attempts to blatantly undermine democracy and free speech in India.

We have one message to those who are trying to destroy the institutions of India and everything it stands for: we will fight for our country and overcome these forces.”
