Odisha: Goods train derail in Gualipur

In another incident of the train derailment, Paradeep-Cuttack goods train reportedly jumped the rails between Goraknath and Raghunathpur in the wee hours of Friday morning in Odisha.

It was reported that the incident took place at around 5.55 am in Odisha.

Officials said in a statement that around 14 open wagons were derailed near Banabihari Gwalipur PH Railway Station which 45 km away from Cuttack and 38 km from Paradeep.

The train was heading towards Cuttack carrying coal from Paradeep.

JP Mishra, East Coast Railway spokesperson said in a statement, “All aspects of the accident, circumstances, and reasons, including fixing up of clear responsibility, is to be mentioned in the inquiry report. DRM/KHURDA Road Braj Mohan Agarwal is nominating an inquiry committee just now”.

The control room was reportedly informed immediately and relief trains and crane were deployed.

Following the incident, no causalities have been reported so far.
