Over Rs 30 lakh and 2.5 gold seized from Tailor House in Chandigarh

The Enforcement Directorate has seized approximately Rs 30 lakh cash and 2.5 kg gold from the tailor house in Chandigarh.

In a confidential way, ED officials suddenly entered to the premises of Maharaja Tailor in Mohali,Chandigarh sector 22, recovered Rs 18 lakh in new currency notes of Rs 2000 denomination and while the rest amount was in Rs 100 and 50 currency notes.

After investigating the bill books of the shop, the ED officials discovered that the proprietors of the tailoring shop had purchased 2.5 kg gold at a rate of Rs. 44,000 per 10 gram post demonetisation. Investigation is still in process.

Recently, 3 days back Enforcement Directorate officials had discovered Rs 2.19 crore cash from a cloth merchant named, Inderpal Mahajan in Chandigarh.

The Chandigarh Police had detained a senior officer of a private bank in Mohali alleged for illegal exchange of old money.
