Patanjali Ayurved’s amla juice removed from Defence canteen

In a recent development, it was reported that the Canteen Stores Department (CSD) of Defense has suspended Patanjali Ayurved’s amla juice from its canteen after a laboratory report declares the product ‘unfit for consumption’.

An official statement from the company reads, “Amla juice is an Ayurvedic proprietary medicine and department should have conducted the examination under prescribed (Ayurveda) category and not under food category”.

On the other company take a stand to defend its product by saying amla juice is safe to consume.

Although, the laboratory test was conducted at West Bengal Public Health Laboratory, Kolkata where it was pronounced unsafe to consume.

The company spokesperson said in a statement, “Our amla juice is a medicinal product and is safe for consumption”.

However, this is not the first instance where the Patanjali product came into the limelight, previously also Patanjali’s ghee was termed unsafe by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) of Haryana.
