At least 13 patients died after more than 500 doctors went on a strike, to protest an assault by the deceased patient’s relative at the Patna Medical College and Hospital on Friday.
An official said in a statement, “Thirteen critical patients died due to lack of treatment after the doctors went on strike on Thursday night, which also hit Emergency and Out Patient Department services”.
It was reported that many patients were confused where to refer to get the treatment done.
Following the protest, the junior doctors are reportedly demanding security and action against the patient’s relative who allegedly the colleague after patients death.
According to reports, it is the third assault incident at PMCH in last two months.
It was added, “So far, 36 surgeries have been deferred and dozens of patients refused admission”.
Health Minister Mangal Pandey has asked the junior doctors to come for the discussion over the strike on Friday afternoon.
