Petrol Pumps won’t accept old currency notes from December 3

The government has decided to reduce the dates of the facility from December 15 to December 2 midnight to use old 500 rupee notes at petrol pumps and buying airline tickets from the airports.

This modification will effect from December 2 midnight, as old currency notes will not be accepted by petrol pumps and even though cannot be used for buying air ticket from airport, said in a  government notification.

This conclusion took place after the evaluation that the exemption was being widely misused to curb black money and reducing the dead line will not influence movement of goods.

While the old currency notes will be accepted for other purpose including bill payments, railway ticketing counters, counters of government and buying tickets till December 15.

Facility of withdrawing cash from petrol pumps will not be effected.

From December 2 midnight onwards, fuel purchase form petrol pumps, buying airline tickets at airport, highway toll payment would be allowed only in lower denomination currency or with new Rs 500 and 2,000 currency notes.
