The deceased was identified as Gopal Singh, who was found hanging from a tree in Jaisalmer district.

Gaurav Yadav, Jaisalmer SP said in a statement, “We came to know about a farmer committing suicide in a remote area of Ramdeora. Family members cremated the body without informing the police. It is stated to be a case of suicide caused by a debt. We need to investigate the matter”.

It was reported that the farmer was suffering from the financial crisis from past few years.

However, this is not the first case where a farmer commits suicide, failing to repay the debt. Earlier, a 65-year-old farmer reportedly committed suicide, by hanging himself from a tree in the Jhalawar district of Rajasthan.
