Ram Rahim: Special CBI court sentenced 20 years jail

The self-styled Godman Gurmeet Ram Rahim was awarded 20 years jail term by the Special CBI court on Monday afternoon.

It was learned that that 10 years each will be run consecutively for two rapes.

The 20 years jail imprisonment was announced by the Special CBI judge Jagdeep Singh at the Sunaria Jail on Monday afternoon.

The special CBI court on Friday has heard the Sadhvi rape case and convicted Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh guilty in the sexual assault case.

Following the violence in Haryana, Punjab and some areas of Uttar Pradesh and Delhi, the security was been tightened across Haryana and Punjab.

CBI spokesperson said in a statement, “Both sentences in Dera chief rape cases will run consecutively for a total of 20 years jail”.

Apart from 20 years, jail imprisonment the Dera Sacha Sauda chief and so called Godman Gurmeet Ram Rahim was fined with Rs 15 lakh in each rape case.

The CBI court found the self-styled Godman guilty under the section of section 376 (guilty of rape), section 506 (criminal intimidation) and decided to award 10 years each jail term in the two rape cases.

The total punishment of Godman Gurmeet Ram Rahim and Dera Sacha Sauda chief is turn out to be 20 years.
