The Reserve Bank (RBI) is likely to issue new note of Rs 10 with improved security features soon.
The central bank said on Thursday, that new advance notes will carry inset letter ‘L’ on both number panels, bearing the signature of RBI Governor Urjit Patel.
On the reverse of the note the year of printing 2017 will be printed. Among other features, there will be numbers on both the panels in ascending size from left to right.
The first three alpha-numeric letters (prefix) will remain constant in size.
RBI has clarified in the statement that old currency notes will also valid, as it asserted in a notification “All the bank notes in the denomination of Rs 10 issued by the Bank in the past will continue to be legal tender.”
