SDMC proposed Cashless property tax payment from FY 2017-18

South Delhi Municipal Corporation proposed cashless payment of property tax from next financial year.

This proposal is made to influence cashless society, online transactions in the era of demonetisation, e- commerce and digitalization.

After sudden announcement of demolishing high currency notes of Rs 500 and Rs 1000, wide range of people are shifting to E-commerce and M-commerce for transactions.

SDMC commissioner Puneet Kumar Goel said, that the civic body will not be accepting property tax payment in cash and people can make payment using by mobile wallet or other e-wallets, cheques, draft, and E-commerce from next financial year 2017-2018.

People can file online applications but payments will be received in cash. SDMC commissioner also proposed that there will be 2% increase in property tax rates for categories under A and B, 1% increase in C, D and E residential colonies. And commercial property rate will also hike by 5%.

SDMC has also launched a scheme called ‘Link all your record’ to track the records, all information of a tax payer. And it can be accessed by tax payer on SDMC website.

SDMC commissioner Puneet Kumar Goel also informed that there will be rebates to those who will pay taxes on time which will be reduced from 15% to 10 % in financial year 2017-18. But there will be no rebates on DDA/CGHS flats constructed over 100sq metre area, heritage land or buildings used for commercial purposes.

Rebates for senior citizens, women and disabled taxpayers will decrease from 30% to 20%.
