In a horrifying incident, seven minors of an orphanage in North Kerala’s Wayanad district were sexually assaulted by the group of youngsters over a period of two months.
It was reported that all the girls are in the age group of 14-15 years and were staying at the orphanage in Kalpetta.
The incident was discovered when one of the girls from the orphanage was spotted coming out from the nearby shop in a mysterious situation where she was questioned by the staff of an orphanage, which followed with a complaint filed by the Police.
In a statement Kalpetta MLA C K Saseendran, social worker and current MLA of Kalpetta said that “It is a shocking incident. The police investigation is moving in the right direction”.
Although, from out of seven accused police has caught hold of six persons in a search warrant and also looking for another accused.
The police have registered the non-bailable case against the eight accused under the sections of POCSO Act and Juvenile Justice Act.
However, the counseling sessions have been arranged for all the girls.
