Shalimar Bagh murder: Woman shot dead in car, husband confesses

In a recent development, a 34-year-old woman, who was shot dead in front of her two-year-old son in northwest Delhi’s Shalimar Bagh area on Wednesday, Police officials arrested husband in connection with the murder.

It was reported that the 34-year-old Priya Mehra was allegedly shot dead in the wee hours of Wednesday morning when the couple along with their two-year-old child was returning from a Bangla Sahib Gurdwara.

In a question round with the police officials, Pankaj Mehra said he has taken the money and was unable to return back to lenders, following this they killed his wife.

He said the money lenders were threatening him and asking for the money with an interest rate.

Following this, police found lack of consistency in his statement and took a detailed interrogation the same wherein Pankaj confessed the killing of his wife.

Police official said, “He wanted to make it look like the lender killed his wife. Pankaj Mehra also has a second wife”.

Milind Dumbere, a senior police officer said in a statement, “Pankaj was married to another woman despite being married to Priya. He was inclined towards his other wife and thought of eliminating Priya”.

Adding further to this he said, “On sustained interrogation, the husband Pankaj Mehra has finally confessed to killing his wife Priya Mehra. He is being taken along with the team to recover the weapon”.

However, police officials have taken Pankaj Mehra into custody to lookout for the weapon which he used to kill his wife.
