Soldier Chandu Chavan who willfully crossed LOC, handed over to India

Chandu Chavan Chouhan, Indian Soldier who accidently crossed over LOC last year, was handed over to the Indian authorities by Pakistan army at Wagah border on Saturday.

Earlier in the afternoon, Pakistan army announced that it would soon release, Indian Soldier who accidently crossed over LOC last year during surgical strikes.

The spokesperson of Pakistan Armed Forces, Maj Gen Asif Ghafoor, informed about this on twitter by saying “Pak Army returning Indian sldr Chandu Babulal Chohan to India as goodwill. He deserted to Pak on 29 Sep 16 on grievances against his comds.”

In a press release it is stated that “As a gesture of good will and in continuation of our efforts to maintain peace and tranquility along LOC and WB, sepoy  Chandu Babulal Chouhan has been convinced to return his own country and will be handed over to Indian authorities at Wagha Border on Humanitarian grounds.

Recently this Month, Union Minister of State for Defence, Subhash Bhamre had said, “They (Pakistan) have admitted that Chandu Chavan is alive, and that they will soon release him after inquiry, which is nearing completion.”
