As per the recent reports, the United States has reportedly conducted its first air strikes against ISIS in today in northeastern Somalia today.
The first air strike took place at around 11 am, according to midnight East Africa Time.
A statement from U.S. Africa Command (Africom) reads,”In coordination with the Federal Government of Somalia, U.S. forces conducted two separate air strikes against ISIS, in northeastern Somalia on Nov. 3, killing several terrorists”.
It was reported that it was the first air strikes in Somalia.
It was learned that the attack on Somalia was in coordination with Somalian government forces.
The statement reads, “The first strike occurred at approximately midnight local Somalia time with the second separate strike occurring at approximately 11 a.m. local Somalia time”.
It was further added, “We are currently assessing the results of the strike”.
Reports say, at least 350 people were killed in the truck bombing which took place in the capital Mogadishu.
