A BSF Jawan was allegedly killed and two security personnel were reported injured after terrorists attacked a camp near the Srinagar airport in the wee hours of Tuesday morning.
In the exchange of fire, three terrorists were gunned down by the soldiers.
The terrorists today attacked a BSF 182 Battalion Camp near Srinagar international airport,
It was reported that the attack took place at around 4.00 a.m. where it leads to the exchange of firing between the terrorists and security forces.
Director General of Police SP Vaid said in a statement, “A body suspected to be that of a terrorist was found. The identity is yet to ascertained”.
The Union home ministry said in a statement, “A group of 2-3 militants carried out an attack at the BSF camp of the 182 battalion BSF headquarters near Srinagar airport of Hamaama district, Budgam. In this incident, three jawans have been injured and one fidayeen killed in retaliatory firing. Encounter is in progress,”
Following the attack, the movement towards airport was suspended and all morning flights were canceled after the militant attack took place at the BSF camp.
It was learned that BSF and the Special Operations Group (SOG) of the Jammu and Kashmir police, Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Indian army are deployed in the area for the encounter.
