Swiss couple attacked near Agra, Sushma Swaraj seeks report

In a shocking incident, a Swiss couple was attacked by a group of youths at Fatehpur Sikri, Uttar Pradesh near the historical monument Taj Mahal on Sunday.

It was reported that a couple who hails from Lausanne in Switzerland was allegedly attacked and beaten up stones and sticks by a group of youth in the Fatehpur Sikri on Sunday.

The couple told the authorities that they were laid on the ground injured where the onlookers were taking videos and pictures on their mobile phone.

The incident took place on Sunday afternoon when the Swiss couple who were identified as Quentin Jeremy (24) and his girlfriend Marie (24), were walking on the street in Fatehpur Sikri, wherein some youths came and asked for a selfie with the couple.

The youths soon started harassing the couple and beating with the sticks.

Following this, Tourism Minister K Alphons wrote a letter to the Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath expressing concern over the matter.

Alphons said in a statement, “I’ve written to the CM expressing my concern. I’m sure the culprits will be nabbed soon. He’s (the CM) in Agra today, so the probe into the incident will be looked into in utmost detail”.

While on the other hand, External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj reacted in the matter and asked for a detailed report from the Uttar Pradesh government.

Sushma Swaraj moved to Twitter and posted, “I have asked for a report from the State Government. My officers will reach them in the hospital”.
