According to the reports, The President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Mr. Emomali Rahmon will visit India in the near future which is said to be on 14-18 December 2016.
It is said that during his visit to India both the countries will be looking forward to expanding the collaboration in the fields of energy, defense, and security besides others.
This will be the 6th visit of President Rahmon to India. Amid his last visit to India in 2012, the two nations raised their bilateral relations for a long-term partnership.
The Ministry of External Affairs said in a statement, ”Bilateral relations span cooperation in a wide spectrum of areas – political, economic, health, human resources development, defense, counter-terrorism, science and technology, culture and tourism”.
President Emomali Rahmon will be first visiting Kerala after that he will be arriving in New Delhi on 16th December.
His official engagements would start on 17 December 2016 in New Delhi.
President Rahmon will have gatherings which include President Shri Pranab Mukherjee and Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi.
The President of India will have a dinner on 17 December for the meeting with the Tajikistan President.
As per the agencies, Tajikistan shares a 1,400 km-long porous border with Afghanistan and has immense geo-strategic significance for India which has been providing military assistance to it, including supply of helicopters as part of counter-terrorism cooperation.
